Last week I ended up at the Bev Mo in the new mall (the one off 10th St. just past the freeway) ... it looks very strange at night, just like a bunch of buildings plopped in a vacant lot, the stonehenge of strip malls.

I've seen the same thing, developers have a this city in a choke hold and our city council does nothing about it because the developers got many of the council members and county board members elected. They can't build fast enough... it's not a new thing in city planning but it's still sad to see. -

Wed, February 9, 2005 - 2:46 PMPart of that particular development, as well as others in this fair burg, is that a lot of the land is/was farmland. Farming in Gilroy isn't anywhere near as profitable as selling land to developers for malls.
I often wish the Dispatch had online archives so I could read all about the Super Wal Mart debate. -
