No catch, that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured: "what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00, right?" Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!... Within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the!! Good evening Gilry aficiaonados! I'm new on Tribe and seeking friends in and around Glroy for on-line conversation or maybe at Starbucks or 5th Street Coffee and all that.

We first moved here in 1980 (yipes, that long ago?). My two daughters both graduated from GHS.

Some news? It rained today, and oddly most everybody I saw didn't have an umbrela, instead running with their coat or papers over their heads. I guess most people just couldn't believe it's stil goddam raining!

Let's see, other news...I'll have to get back to you on that. ..

Nor did I ever notice this Tribe until today when I saw it listed as a tribe my fellow G-Town Homie was a member of. It rocks! I still have to make a few trips a year back to visit the fam but at least I don't have to stay. As long as I am not forced to go back for good...it's not so bad. I actually have quite a few fond memories growing up in Gilas.

My son never ended up in a gang, my daughter didn't end up a mother at 16, yeah it's small and sorta conservative but if you look hard enough it aint bad. I have lived here for almost 20 years and seen a definate change in it's atmosphere, not just the air quality. But it is central to about everything and without all the traffic. I commute to S.J. and all points beyond everday for my job and that smell welcomes me home at the end of the day. You gotta make your own slice of heaven sometimes but just stay under the radar. We have had MANY good times at our house parties and rarely get hassled by the good ole' boys of the GPD. Can't say I'll stay forever, but it sure feels fine for now.

I was born in San francisco, but went to Jr. High and High school in San Jose.
I have often traveled through Gilroy as I traveled between San Francisco and Big Sur.
The best thing I know about Gilroy is PIG RADIO http://www.kpig.com/
My old pal TRAVIS T HIPP got his start in radio from that station.

I drove through Gilroy just the other day. There was some kind of Garlic Festival going on. I was on my way to Sarratoga. Stopped off at the drive thru Starbucks to get some coffee on my way back to sunny San Diego. It was REALLY hot!

Taste that smell

before i had moved to gilroy, I had only driven through it, like most people i talk to. You may know that this town is world renowned for REEKING of garlic.

for the first month i lived here, my stomach was producing too much acid because all i could smell was garlic and my body thought it was about to eat some pesto linguine all the time.

has anyone had similar experiences? Or better yet, DIFFERENT experiences?

I CAN'T STAND LIVING HERE ANYMORE. I can't go anywhere without not being able to understand anyone! I don't think it is right to do that and should be changed! I will move back to where I feel more comfortable as soon as my sister and I can move. I hate it here. This place should be cleaner too

I just want to say I'm please to see that someone has undertaken the unenviable task of locating Gilroy in the time space continuum. Hell seems like a good place to start. I'm an English major and a writer and I'm suffocating under the stagnant community. The only thing worse than the non-existent nightlife is the ridiculous cost to live here.

Do you guys know that there was a "sex club" here for about three months before the city forced to move out of town two years ago... sadly, I could never find their meeting spots :(

triangulating the location of gilroy

Although Gilroy is too small to be located on any reputable map, I have put together a list of clues that may one day answer the eternal question: "Where the Hell is Gilroy?"

1. I know that it is surrounded by smelly garlic fields, so it must be in a part of the solar system that can support life, however rudimentary.
2. It has a Walmart and 2 McDonalds, so it must be somewhere on Earth.
3. The schools have less money and more people than the prisons, so it is probably in either Burma, Kosovo, Zimbabwe, or the United States.
4. The water spirals clockwise down the drain, so it's probably in the northern hemisphere, ruling out Burma and Zimbabwe.
5. A lot of people here have both Slipknot AND Shania Twain in their CD collections, so it must be some forgotten podunk town in the U.S. somewhere.

Other than that, I really have no idea. Any help?
